Outset Estonia was launched in May 2015 to strengthen contemporary visual art production in Estonia by supporting new commissions from emerging artists and to further the acquisition of Estonian works by both international and Estonian public institutions. A key focus of Outset Estonia is promoting philanthropy and developing new patrons for contemporary art.
Seven distinguished philanthropists and businessmen have jointly come together with the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Centre (ECADC) to found the first privately-funded initiative of its kind in Estonia. As a member of the global Outset network, Outset Estonia supports new contemporary art commissions as well as significant local and international art projects. Seven founding members are Hannes Tamjärv, Rain Lõhmus, Maarja Oviir-Neivelt, Jaan Pillesaar, Hede Kerstin Luik, and Merit & Aivar Berzin.
