Nazli Gürlek

Nazli Gurlek, currently based in Istanbul, works as a curator for Borusan Contemporary Museum slash workspace. An office space during the weekdays and an art space on weekends gives a great example of Turkish contemporary art scene. The state does not financially support art, all the galleries in the country are privately funded. This and the fact that people’s biggest need is public places and parks might be one of the main reasons why much of contemporary art is about space and space solution – artists touch the topics through architectural features and tools, while facing many practical challenges.
