International Focus: Dimitri Ozerkov / Saint Petersburg

Please join us on Thursday, February 6th at 4:30pm in the Institute of Art History (Suur-Kloostri 11, Room 104, Tallinn) for a talk about the St.Petersburg art scene by Dimitri Ozerkov, contemporary art curator at The State Hermitage Museum.

 

Dimitri Ozerkov is the Director of Hermitage 20/21 Project for Contemporary Art at The State Hermitage Museum and a Project Commissioner for the upcoming Manifesta 10.

The vision of Hermitage 20/21 has been to collect and exhibit contemporary art in one of the key museums in Russia. Dimitri has curated numerous exhibitions of contemporary art in Russia and abroad with works by Anish Kapoor, Bart Dorsa, Henry Moore and Ilya Kabakov, among others. He is the author of Education of Cupid and co-author of Still Standing: Antony Gormley (2011), The Newspeak: British Art Now (2009), and Jake and Dinos Chapman: The End of Fun (2012).

 

In his talk, Dimitri will focus on the Hermitage 20/21 project, the collaboration with Manifesta, and the St. Petersburg art scene. Dimitri is visiting Tallinn as part of the Visiting Curators Programme and will be exploring Tallinn’s local art scene as well as visiting several artist studios for further research.
