Marko Mäetamm in Paris

 

Currently on view in Odile Ouizeman gallery is the duo exhibition of Marko Mäetamm and Pavel Pepperstein. As the exhibition’s curator Alistair Hicks describes it, ‘Tragic Timing’ is of artists ‘who both live in their heads and propose to take us with them. They are like separate planets’ he says, ‘with their own atmospheres and gravitational fields, but in the same galaxy.’ Mäetamm will be exhibiting recent work from his solo exhibition ‘I’m only Streaming’ held at Tallinn City gallery this April.

Kris Lemsalu in Prague

 

Kris Lemsalu’s work is on view at the group show “Metamorphosis” in SVIT gallery, Prague. Curated by the art historian Zdenek Felix, the first two exhibitions of the series were held in Galerie Guido W. Baudach (Berlin) and Arthena Foundation’s KAI 10 (Düsseldorf). An exploration of the theme of the transformation of bodies, forms, ideas, and substances, Lemsalu will be exhibiting her 2016 installation ‘Ciao Cacao’. Other artists exhibiting at “Metamorphosis” include Habima Fuchs (CZ), Thomas Helbig (DE), Renaud Jerez (FR), and Mary-Audrey Ramirez (LU).

Merike Estna in Mexico City

 

During a research-trip to Mexico, Merike Estna will be transforming her gallerist’s – Karen Huber’s – apartment into a performative site-specific installation ‘Red Herring and other stories’, conceived in collaboration with the curator Paula Lopez Zombrano.

 

Estna will also be launching her new website www.genialmythcraft.com that gives information on the artist’s most recent and upcoming projects.

Kiwa in Helsinki

 

Kiwa will be opening an exhibition titled ‘The Spiral of Void’ at Helsinki-based Galleria 68 that focuses mainly on Constructivist and Op art. The exhibition deals with pshychedelia as cognitive-enhancing technology and will be accompanied by a book of the same name, including remixes of Raul Meel’s concrete poetry from the 1960s and Hanno Soan’s texts. With graphic design by Tuuli Aule, ‘The Spiral of Void’ is published by ;paranoia publishing group ltd.

Anna-Stina Treumund, Tanja Muravskaja and the Estonian Union of Photography Artists in Vilnius

 

Estonian Union of Photography Artists (Foku) will be participating at ArtVilnius fair with a curated presentation by Tanja Muravskaja and dearly departed Anna-Stina Treumund, which questions the notions of obedience, discipline, and being civil. Treumund addresses women’s sexuality and gender consciousness from a feminist perspective, while Muravskaja addresses national identity and nationalism.

Maarit Murka, Tõnis Saadoja, Mall Nukke, August Künnapu, Maria Sidljarevitš, Juss Piho and Haus gallery in Vilnius

 

In their presentation for ArtVilnius art fair, Haus gallery will be focusing on figurative painting of introspection by artists Maarit Murka, Tõnis Saadoja, Mall Nukke, August Künnapu, Maria Sidljarevitš, and Juss Piho. In its 8th edition, ArtVilnius showcases around 60 galleries and art institutions mainly from the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and is organized by the Lithuanian Art Gallerists’ Association under the artistic direction of Diana Stomienė.

Juhan Soomets and NOAR in Vilnius

 

NOAR will be participating at ArtVilnius art fair with an interactive sound installation ‘Artists’ Room’, which won Juhan Soomets the first Baltic Young Artist Award in 2016. Soomets’s installation will be also on view at Tallinn Art Week open-air art exhibition on June 17th at Freedom Square, Tallinn. Inaugurated in 2016, the Baltic Young Artist Award acknowledges early-career artists from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

M_M_M_M Project and Okapi gallery in Vilnius

 

Okapi gallery’s presentation at ArtVilnius will take the form of a collaborative M_M_M_M Project’ by photographer Temuri Hvingija and blacksmiths Rait Siska and Risto Tali. Introducing a variety of techniques and technologies derived from photography, blacksmithing, and music, ‘M_M_M_M Project’ also includes a performance by sound artist Erik Alalooga.
