International Focus: Ellen Mara de Wachter / London
ECADC and CCA, Estonia present:
Please join us on Thursday, December 12th at 5pm in the CCAE office (Vabaduse Square 6, Tallinn) for a talk about the London art scene by London-based contemporary art curator Ellen Mara de Wachter as part of the International Focus talk series jointly hosted by the two centers.
Ellen Mara de Wachter is a freelance curator and critic. She has worked at the British Museum, Barbican Gallery and at the Zabludowicz Collection as a curator. Currently she is the Public Collection Curator at Contemporary Art Society. Ellen has published articles in several major catalogs as well as magazines such as Frieze, Artforum, Flash Art and her own blog The Pictured Word.
In her talk, Ellen will focus on her work in the Zabludowicz Collection, national museums and at the Contemporary Art Society, as well as discuss the London art scene and the effect geographical fragmentation has had on the development of art. Her current creative interests lie with the influence of text on the making of art and with the politics of land use in contemporary art.
Ellen is visiting Tallinn as part of the Visiting Curators Programme and will be exploring the local gallery scene as well as visiting several artist studios for further research.
